Researchers at MIT say virus has potential to improve lithium-air battery technology.Viruses usually have negative connotations.MIT researchers have finded a way to use the M13 bacteriophage virus to grow manganese oxide nanowires.M13 works by increasing the surface area of the wire.Lithium-air batteries use the oxidation of lithium and reduction of oxygen to cause a current flow and the virus act like a catalyst in this reaction.MIT's say that the average electric car's range could increase from the 100 miles to over 340 miles.
