The World's Deepest Undersea Immersed Tube Tunnel

Marmaray is a tube tunnel for rail transport.Marmaray is located in the Turkish city of Istanbul.It is a undersea rail tunnel under the Bosphorus strait, along the Sea of Marmara from the European side to the Asian side.The Marmaray name comes by combining the sea of Marmara with "ray" meaning rail in Turkish.

Construction started in May 2004, and was completed on September 23, 2008. The opening of the Marmaray Rail Tube Tunnel and Commuter Rail Mass Transit System delayed due to the discovery of historical and archaeological finds.It was opened for public first time on October 29, 2013.

A 76.3 kilometre (47.4 mi) high-capacity line between Gebze and Halkalı, is a first standard gauge rail connection between Europe and Asia by crossing the Istanbul Strait.

It is the world's deepest undersea immersed tube tunnel with 60.45 m (198.4 ft), 55 metres below sea level and 4.6 metres of earth.

The above ground suburban lines have been upgraded to three tracks, two for commuter and one for long-distance or high-speed passenger trains.The capacity for the suburban lines is 75,000 passengers per hour and there are 37 aboveground srations and three underground stations.Platforms are 225m long and average station space is 1.9 km.



The stations are base on metro style operations and also work for high speed trains travelling at 100km/h (62mph) with an average speed of 45km/h (28mph).Total number of passenger cars are 440.

Hyundai Rotem announced on November 11, 2008, that it had signed a €580 million agreement to supply the rolling stock for the Marmaray cross-Bosphorus tunnel project in Istanbul.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the European Investment Bank had provided major financing for the project. As of April 2006, JICA had lent 111 billion yen and EIB 1.05 billion euro. The total cost of the project is expected to be approximately 2.5 billion US dollars and as of late 2009, costs were expected to increase by approximately 500 million US dollars due to the archaeological delays.

The tunnel was opened on October 29, 2013 on the Turkish Republic's 90th anniversary Republic Day.

Human Brain Can Process Images That The Eye Sees In 13 milliseconds, Research

U.S. researchers discovered that the human brain can process images that the eye sees in just 13 milliseconds.A team of neuroscientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was recently published in the journal Attention, Perception, and Psychophysics.

That speed is eight times faster than the 100 milliseconds recorded by previous studies. Researchers asked viewers to look at a specific image, like a "picnic" or "smiling couple", they viewed a series of six or 12 pictures, presented for 13 to 80 milliseconds and viewers successfully identified images.

Mary Potter, an MIT professor of brain and cognitive sciences and senior author of the study said the fact that you can do that at these high speeds indicates to us that what vision does is find concepts.Professor Potter explained in the study a rapid-fire processing may help direct the eyes to their next target.

""The job of the eyes is not only to get the information into the brain, but to allow the brain to think about it rapidly enough to know what you should look at next.So in general we’re calibrating our eyes so they move around just as often as possible consistent with understanding what we’re seeing.""

A team of the researchers explain the process in which information flows from the retina to the brain.When someone look at something, after an image hits the retina, then the retina sends that information such as shape, color and orientation to the brain.

The researchers said, the images were only seen for 13 milliseconds before the next image displayed, the results indicate that part of the brain continues processing the images for longer.

Professr Potter says that in some cases, viewers were not asked about the presence of a particular image until after they had seen the whole sequence.

‘If images were wiped out after 13 milliseconds, people would never be able to respond positively after the sequence. There has to be something in the brain that has maintained that information at least that long,’ Professor Potter said.

The MIT team researchers decided to gradually increase the speed of images until they were no more accurate and they reached a point where subjects’ answers were no better than if they were guessing.

Professor Potter said, this didn’t really fit with common assumptions my colleagues and I have had for what you can see.

As the images were presented progressively faster, better performance may be that they were able to practice fast detection.The subjects received feedback on their performance, allowing them to adapt to this extremely fast presentation.

Oregon joined 11 other states to stop for asking user account logins from employees, when a law passed begining in May 2013 went into change.

Two Internet security companies have reported that Yahoo's advertising servers have been spreading malware to thousands of users over the last few days.The malware works as a malicious parties who have hijacked Yahoo's advertising network for their own purposes or business activities.
A security company "Fox IT" based in the Netherlands, wrote a blog post on Friday describing the problem. "Clients visiting yahoo.com received advertisements served by ads.yahoo.com. Some of the advertisements are malicious," the firm reported. Instead of serving ordinary ads, the Yahoo's servers reportedly sends users an "exploit kit" that "exploits easily in Java and installs a host of different malware.

"Fox IT  also says Yahoo users have been containing harmed malware since 30 December. The firm says, malicious were being sent to approximately 300,000 users per hour.

The malware attacked faults in the Java programming environment is an important reminder that the software has become a security threat and its Java's security faults have become a juicy target for hackers.Security experts told that you should disable Java as an avoid danger if your browser allows it, but not JavaScript, a totally different technology.

A Security researcher "Mark Loman", has confirmed find out the malware.

A Yahoo spokeswoman said in a email to the Washington Post, "We recently discovered an ad arranged to distribute malware to our users. We dismissed it without any delay and will continue to monitor and block any ads being used for this activity."
