Katy Perry has become the most popular Twitter user in the world.

The latest figures show the US singer "Katy Perry" has 46.55 million followers compared to the Canadian teen star's "Bieber" 46.52 million.

Twitter news blog said Perry was now likely to be the first to get to 50 million.

A report suggested that around 50% of Bieber's followers could be fake.

According to monitoring website twittercounter.com, Lady Gaga, Barack Obama and Taylor Swift are in spots three, four and five onTwitter's most followed list.

Global pop star Lady Gaga will soon be performing among the stars, blasting off into outer space in 2015 on a Virgin Galactic ship.

"She has to do a mouth of vocal training because of the atmosphere,"

Gaga may become the first chart-topper to give a concert in orbit, but it won't be the first tune performed in space.

Taylor Swift Nominated For Eight American Country Awards

Taylor Swift hits the gym yet AGAIN as she's nominated for eight American Country Awards:-

Taylor leads the way in the nomination count for this year's prestigious country music awards, beating out Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw who each racked up seven.

The starlet is nominated for Single Of The Year for her track Begin Again, as well as the highly sought after nod for Artist Of The Year.

With the ACA ceremony taking place in Las Vegas on December 1, Taylor has plenty of time to get into tip top shape for the red carpet.

It is far from the first time Taylor has been recognised for her excellence in music, with her award tally nearing 200 since she signed with Big Machine Records in 2008.

These awards include seven Grammys, 12 Billboard Music awards, seven gongs from the Academy of Country Music and 11 American Music awards.

The multi-talented star also recently finished filming The Giver in South Africa.

The film, based on the popular book of the same name, and is due out in theatres next year.
